I want to copy this stand below. but because i have a 55 gallon sump i will be using i dont think it will be able to fit it in.

will the stand be strong enough if i take out one of the middle supports.

its a 210 AGA tank 90''x 24''x24''

can't you still have the 2x4 cross beams without the footers beneath? i'm assuming the sump would fit under them if you still had the "joists" going from front to back

as long as it will have some lateral bracing, that thing will be more than fine:)

hey man,

ill just reply to your pm here...sorry, i didnt take a materials list and i honestly dont remember how many 2x4s i used. overall, the total cost was about $100. as for the stand itself, im sure it could support a buick! im sure theres a way to modify it so that a 55g fits and it will support your tank. another option would be to build the stand around the sump, but then if something goes wrong, your screwed since it wont come out. most DIY stands are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overbuilt, mine is no exception. taking out some of those supports wont hurt.

and btw, based off those dimensions, your tank is a 225g, not a 210 :)

Well it comes out to 212 on the inside
It's not AGA

I said AGA beCause I thought it meant all glass aquarium. I was trying to describe that the tank is glass

you can make removable supports by using steel pipe. you can thread the ends and get threaded bases for adjustment. i have 2 holding firmly under my 210. if i drain the tank down halfway i can remove them safely and remove my sump.

Just made this stand based off of that picture of yours it looks mighty hefty going to be using it for 84x24x24
Thanks for the picture

Looks great. Only suggestion I can make is that you'd please go to Home Depot or Lowe's and pick up some steel brackets. I'd be too scared to do a test run and have it break..
