Is there anyone else out there that has the reputation and variety that Jeff Rapps had?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question but he dealt very specifically with South and Central American cichlids so I figured I'd post in this section because of that. Plus I know a lot of people that bought from him in the past frequent this site and specifically this forums section.

Thanks in advance,

In terms of reputation I guess that that would be Wes of RareFish, other places may have a great selection but they havent been operating as long and have the connections for the more rare stuff.
You have Aquascape,Monsteraquarium with great stock among others but I don't think anyone tops Jeff's selection of CA and SA cichlids.

There are a bunch of vendors, you just have to watch all of them and see what's coming. It was nice that Jeff had a wide variety and you could order multiple things from him at once, but there are still nice fish to be had out there.

Aquaticclarity
- Jeff Michels tends to stock smaller cichlids, African/SA dwarves, and wild discus or angels in season

Aqua Imports
- Mike has a variety of wild and farm-raised CA/SA cichlids

Cichlids of the Americas
- Dan deals mostly in CA but does occasionally have some SA on his list

Dave's Rare Aquarium Fish
- Dave specializes in Africans but occasionally he has some CA/SA stuff on his list

Freshwater Exotics
- This company seemed to be mostly into plecos but this year they've branched out to wild-caught SA from Brazil and Colombia including Uaru, angels, geos, discus, etc.

Wet Spot Tropical Fish
- A good mix of all cichlids, from Old World stuff to CA/SA

And of course there's always AquaBid where people sometimes sell home-bred stock. Most of these pages also have Facebook and I follow them there for stocklist updates, pictures, videos, etc.

I wholeheartedly vouch for Freshwater Exotics. I’ve done four orders with them and every single one was a fantastic experience.

I feel the same way about Wes fugupuff fugupuff I’ve done many orders with him over the years and now consider him a friend. A good man, honest seller, and 100% excellent customer service.

Wetspot sells small fish. Their listed size is always larger than reality. That said, they have a ton of variety and great prices.

Dan at COA is a solid dude. I used to order all the time from him and have always had a good experience.

Haven’t tried the others but I do check Aquatic Clarity and Aqua Imports lists regularly. Mike at Aqua Imports carries cool stuff and seems to have better connections for rare SA cichlids than most other vendors...especially when looking for wild caught fish.

Rehoboth Aquatics is another but I found the owner to be quite unresponsive and unwilling.

There’s a couple other vendors out there. I’ve done two orders with Derek’s fish. Both were solid experiences. He now carries rare wild caught SA cichlids and catfish.

Thank you all for your replies.

I stumbled on a site called https://www.getgills.com

I have 6 Geo. Sveni that I purchased from Jeff Rapps last year. I love these fish so much that I want to add more to my group. So I stumbled on this site due to the fact they have young Geo. Sveni for sale from the same collection point where Jeff Rapps received his. Anyways, in all the responses above I didn't see this dansfish.com listed which of course just gets re-routed to getgills.com. Just curious if anyone here has experience with dealing with dansfish?

Thank you,

Just a heads up Jeff contacted me a couple of weeks ago and he's working on some things that will help us out in his absence. The plans sound good but we will have to wait and see what happens. I won't go into details im sure he will once he has things set in stone. To your question I have ordered from aquascape online a few times and the fish came in healthy and in very good shape. Got fish from wetspot a few times thru another party fish were also healthy smaller than advertised but healthy.
