Where Bowfin are found in the wild they are not rare by any means. But there are a fair number of people that want one that happen to live in parts of the country where Bowfins are not swimming around in the wild. If you set up an account at Aquabid.com you could sell at least a few. There is a seller right now selling them with a starting price of $50.

Around here I can get them for $3.99 per pound, from a local grocery store. My old group of them was picked up this way.
Demand will likely depend on area.
they are fun to keep but be warned lol they do fight alot esp at the 6 inch mark
