Has anybody ever found, seen or kept any species of one of these? Rarely they occur with Gars but I have never seen one of the other natives with these markings maintained in captivity.

Wouldn't a Xanthic Musky be incredible? Or a sunburst (black/yellow) walleye or crappie? Show us a picture if you got one.

i have seen 1 golden bowfin. i didnt know what a gem it was until i came here. shoulda caught that one. i have also seen one neon green bowfin that i caught i swear it would have glown in the dark! other then that i see from time to time jet black crappies. i think if you could get the permit a mirror carp would be a sweet fish to keep. we shoot a few with our bows during bowfishing.

i know solomon has a pic of a sunburst bowfin.

while fishing several years ago my friend caught a xanthic bass....it was too small to keep so he threw it back, but man it was cool looking

i caught an albino rock bass when i was much younger . Didnt even know anything about that stuff when I was that age though. Just thought a white fish with red eyes was weird.

Obviously it happens more frequently with live-bearers, but when I studied western mosquitofish reproduction we saw all sorts of variants. But, it always seemed like they were quickly cannibalized by the adults.

Sachs aquaculture and Jonahs aquarium both sell melanistic gambusia (mosquitofish) whenever they have them in stock.....really cool looking little predators.

My dads friend had an albino channel cat in his koi pond, got to big and gave it to the pet store in my neighborhood. They kept it in one of their ponds and still have it. I can take pics if you would like.

I've caught a few melanistic gambusia and one melanistic golden top minnow over the past few months while dip netting. In gambusia, it only happens in males, and the last one I caught had a bunch of green in it, and a super wavy dorsal fin like a male guppy. It was cool. Since they swim on the top you can spot them in the right conditions, and they don't really swim around too far from where you come across them which makes netting them pretty easy. If I spot when I am fishing I will drive home get a dip net and it will be there when I get back haha. They aren't a weekly thing, but if I dip net almost everyday for about 15 minutes, in the Orlando, Fl area.

I call them dalmos haha.
