Does anyone know how to tell the different zaire fronts apart how can you tell the difference between a moba and a kapampa or others anyone know?

you will not be able to.
I have owned all 3 major blue zaire.
people who have owned them at the same time will say they can tell the difference.

Here is the problem.
they will be able tell their own groups apart, yes.
the problem is they only can ID the groups they have.
You can't ID something going only by what you yourself have.
If they would go to other peoples houses, one person's Kitumba will look exactly like their Moba back home.
Anther person's Moba will look like their Kitumba.

Try to get more Kitumba 2 years later, and they will look exactly like the Moba you may have and vice versa.

In fact you can pull 100 Moba from the lake. If you take the best looking 12 and then the worst looking 12, they will look slightly different, thus looking like 2 different collection points.

There is variability amongst the types.
You can't go by shade of blue/purple, its not accurate.
you can't go by length of eye mask with zaire either.
those are the 2 main ways people claim to ID the blue zaire from each other, but its not accurate.

Then a person is basically at the mercy of the seller when you buy ant kind of zaire and if they end up crossed what would you have. We just bought 12 mobas and they are alot lighter colored than our moba I can only hope they are all mobas because I don't want to end up with crossed up fronts.

With the cost of Zaire I understand this is hard for people to do, but I always tell people to buy a Zaire colony complete at the same time to ensure that they are all at least the same fish.

If you buy a fish here and there, though they all may be Moba, they may look different and not quite match.

sometimes its simply because Japan pays more for the top quality, so sometimes we get whats left.

So if you got the best batch of one shipment, and then next year the worst, you may think you got a different fish, when in fact they are the same, just not the cream.

So yes, the hobbyist is at the mercy of the seller, who is at the mercy of the exporter/collector, who is at the mercy of the Diver.

Well we should be fairly safe then thet they are all mobas because the guy we got the 13 from said he bought out the stores mobas and the store is well known for their quality fish.

Cichlidstore.com is in Riverview
According to the site, they've got juvie moba's there, and non-zaire variants.

Mosta-frontosa.com is in Brandon (wild caught importer with moba's in stock according to the web site).

You could probably coordinate with either of them to see if you can get an on site visit.

Cichlidstore.com and Mosta-frontosa.com is the same store. The owner's name is Bob and he is extremely knowledgable in frontosas and regularly imports them from the lake. I got my WC Mpimbwe colony from him and even got a chance to visit his place. Very nice guy and good quality fish! He has some amazing peacock cichlids too!:WHOA:
