Help with bichir

Hi, I recently got two Senegal bichirs and recently after a few weeks of having them I am guessing something happened while I was at school and now there is a piece of my Senegal bichirs tail missing. I am wondering what I can do to prevent us in the future and will it grow back?

Do they have any tank mates? Is one significantly bigger than the other? How long were you away and were they fed when you were gone?

Prevention would be to separate the Senegalus. Should grow back. Make sure there’s plenty of decor to hide from each other. Should settle down. Sometimes adding more polys to spread the progression helps. When only two they will look for each other.

There is a 1/2 inch size difference. They are in a 75 gallon for now. I intended to buy a school of Congo tetras this weekend. But until then it’s just the two bichirs. By adding more polys do you mean bichirs and if so what bichirs should I add? should I add another Senegal bichir? Here are some photos from before when I first got them they have grown a little since when the photo was taken. I’ve been feeding them blood worms. The day this happened I woke up late and was rushing to school and I didn’t have time to feed them before I left. Ill take a picture of the tank when I can.

No I feed them blood worms

Only bloodworms? I would try and transfer them on to a pellet diet to get more nutritional value than just bloodworms.
