I Don't feed him ritz crackers. ill give a little bit of dog food mixed with some homemade soup from my own garden like tomatos, and bell peppers all natural ingredients.
There are certainly more 'premium' (and very expensive) brands, but all my dogs have lived considerably longer than average for their breed, and all have been raised on Pedigree (dry and wet together each meal).
Also there was a recent report about some dog foods causing heart disease, most of the brands listed were more premium:
