Here we join two acrylic fish tanks of different height (30 inches and 24 inches): 1100 US gallon 10 feet by 6 feet by 2.5 feet high, badly broken in several places, with an intact 500 gal 8 feet by 4 feet by 2 feet high.

The 1100 gal was found on Craigslist in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA for $1000 (was around $7000 new) plus $200 for delivery from 3 hours away. The 500 gal was bought from a friend in Orlando, FL for $900.

Total expenses in the tanks, acrylic panes, and the two part glue (Weldon #40) are around $2200 (not counting delivery, travel to pick up, pumps, plumbing, lighting, etc.). Both tanks came with stands, one is wood, the other is metal.

It is admittedly ugly as sin and we don't know how long it will hold water problem-free, but it is functional and I hope will have longevity. At the moment it has been running for 3 weeks:

Been running ~3 years. No problem so far. I haven't had to do anything with the tank.

water change and filtration (not tank specific, sorry, but the whole ops):
