What is their estimated size now?
Thanks. I'm very happy how they are coming along.
With some coaching from Wes, I got them past the acclimation and feeding struggle in the new environment. They were okay when I first got them but you can tell they were not happy but not stressed. If you know what I mean?
They know the pond well now and seem very comfortable of it's surroundings. Weather is warming up and biologically the pond water is very active. Water is pristine. These bambusas are very fast and aggressive eaters. They hit the food hard and quick near the surface. They hold it in their mouth till they figure out how to swallow it. I believe they need to be fed often throughout the day because they do not have a stomach to store the food. This could be why captive kept bambusa are thin. Just my opinion. As you mentioned, a pond is a good option for Bambusa.
Currently, they are about 9". I will post more pics later today. Got to go get more frozen fish. They are putting it down at a high rate.
