Does anyone have true real rio hondo? Trying to find pics of these guys. What is the biggest difference between rio hondo, Escondido, vontehello, & rio salto carpintins?

I've had 2 of them, and they both died. They're almost electric, even when they're small. The spots/worming/pearling pattern is big and very well defined. They're really nice. Dan at CoA has them almost all the time. I'm getting some more of them as soon as I free up some space in a 125.

So who knows where I can get rio hondo, vonthello, or Escondido not needing to place a minimum of $100 order. Only need 2 4" size male & female.

Nowhere. That's what those fish cost. Sorry.

Since you are in Illinois, you may want to check the gcca.net (Greater Chicago Cichlid Assn) classifieds, or go to a gcca meeting and ask around. I was able to get location chaireil from a member there, and have always found there to be many breeders of many species and varieties in the greater Chicago area. If you are in southern Il, you may want to go to a Louisville Aquarium Society meeting.
I picked up about 10 chaireil juvies for around $20 in northern IL.
Here's how the alpha male turned out.
