I got my tropical pond built last year. 8x5x33" deep. At the time I had to do it cheaply so it was done basic - wood and liner.
It's doing it's job fine, but later this year I'll have a chance to redo it better, and install a window. I'm just not sure the construction is strong enough. It's probably more than in reality, but given that this is indoors, I want to be sure.
I'll be putting the window in one end, because the pond is one end of my kitchen but that end takes up what used to be a double doorway so with the window there, I'll be able to enjoy my big barbs from the comfort of my sofa!
It'll be epoxied all in blue; the black and white parts will be too, they're just there to make the construction clear. The pond frame is all 4x2s with 18mm ply lining. If I go for a 25mm window (would that be thick enough?) then the black frame would be 70x45mm laid on its side. Apologies for mixing up measurement types!
