2 years ago picked up a Eastern Milk snake. I think it migrated from PA.
I've never had any of the bigger native snakes except for a particularly nasty water snake I caught down in Tacony Creek, which I promptly released as well.

Great picture! I see online Red-backed salamanders may live a quarter century in captivity...
How long has it been in your basement? Lol.
I love salamanders... snakes too, like this Garter.

I'm not sure how long it's been down there,I've had a few small snakes make their way in over the years.

I found two more salamanders earlier today, but not in the basement,I came across them doing yardwork.....one was almost identical to my basement visitor and the other one didn't have any red coloring on it's top side.

I occasionally find salamenders in our basement, dried up is a corner somewhere. And the cats have brought snakes upstairs before, also dead.
