The shoemaker's elves have been very excited and been trying to get this done.

Adding Lecavalier

We used filter floss pads for substrate barrier

Tank is now in a test period with substrate and running water. The substrate ij the front is thin as it will be almost completely most.

The log stream that ends in the pool.

Needs to be wiped and cleaned a little like silicone on wood, etc.

After the Lecavalier we used a thin layer of denser filter floss as the substrate barrier

The tank in the classroom

Still can't decide which plants to put in the two empty cups. Looking for something simple that is in scale and won't over run the tank.

Mine is growing pretty good, nice root systems and such.
Share a pic or two. Or even a link to your thread.

That’s a lucky classroom
I try to make projects the students are interested in. That way passion based learning gets the intrinsically interested in learning for learning not for scores. Also, instead of a written test, parts of this build are incorporated into the assessments.

I got a school of 10 Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish a little while ago. I wanted something bigger than a danio with blue. Been umming and ahing for almost 2 years on whether I should or not. Saw a 1" fish for a price I couldn't, nay - shouldn't, refuse and got them. Got a great ratio (I think at least), 4M6F.

I am very, tediously slowly winning the battle on algae here. I do not want to make drastic changes and upset the balance as I have not filter on this tank.

So the 55 gal paludarium now houses about
9-10 dwarf chain loaches
10 dwarf neon rainbow fish
3-4 otos
1 farlowellla
