My 300 has been looking very barren since most of the fish have just grown old and died. So I thought the best thing to do was get a group of silver dollars to fill out the tank. Just got them in from Exotic Fish Shop this afternoon. Very happy with the condition of the fish and their size.

Got 8 of the Setiger silver dollars, in a 90g QT for now and then when Im certain no issues they will go into the 300.

This was an old pic when I had the 3 large bala sharks. Now sadly just one that is about 14" or so and seems very old by the way it acts.

Some big fish in the tank but looks empty, lol (side view looks empty)

But when the fish were all together...

Have to wait a bit for my new silver dollars to grow since I have a few large fish that would make an expensive snack out of them, can see the one ansorgii that is about 18" and there is a 20" endli in there too.

So in the meantime the new SD's are in my garage fishroom, in a 90g QT/growout tank for a little while

Rip to the bala sharks 🫡
Me personally I like the more predator stuff so if I had a 300g it would be either a predator or cichlid tank but alas I only have a 125g with my parents koi and 2 55g

Thanks, I really liked having the big balas

Ive kept groups of more aggressive cichlids in the past, I like the calm of a community tank with large peaceful fishes. My last pearsei was 16" and thick! My current one is still a baby at about 10". I just added my 11" Bumblebee Oscar to the 300 but thats really it for cichlids in this tank.

Nice dollars. I look forward to seeing them develop in the 90 and then in the big tank. Wish I had a big tank myself!
Cheers!

Good choice. They look like quality fish.
Thanks, Ive kept regular red hooks in the past when I had a 210 gallon but rehomed them when I went a different way with stocking. These guys are very healthy and had a ton of pep in the bag still. I was very impressed with the order, was my first time ordering from Exotic Fish Shop. Very happy with Steve and his great communication and the quality of the fish.
