If you get a noisy FX6 like this
The noise is due to a faulty motor ,as you can see the impeller is jerky at times this is caused by intermittent electromagnetism fault within the motor which is not repairable and means a NEW motor is needed (loadsamoney)
I removed the impeller assembly then replaced the casing back and fitted a Hallea HX 8830... 2900L/hr external pump which I fitted onto the top of the FX6 and connected it to the inlet and outlet pipes with sponge packing under the pump to stop it from rattling , the pump cost £40.00 which is 1/4 or 25% of a new Fluval motor . SORTED !! this my tank.
