some really nice pics. I will get some of my father's... My mother no longer married found out he spent over 18,000 on this huge pond with build in filtration and water fall... of course paid someone to do it...

mjunior... Pond kit was about 1000.00 That includes the liner, underlayment, high efficient pump (4500 GPH), 1.5" flex PVC, and all plumbing accessories and water treatments. The boulders were about 1500.00 for 6 tons of granite. Gravel in the pond about 100.00. Mulch and plants another 300.00. These are contractor prices so probally double the cost for retail pricing. The cost savings from doing it yourself as opposed to having a contractor doing it is in the labor. Having a truck helps as well.

Limz... The lillies and all other plants are directly planted into the pond. When you excavate, dig depressions where you want plants to be. Once theliner is in place, fill the sunken spot w/ gravel and a little clay. Although I do away w/ the clay and just put all gravel in the pits. This gives a spot for the plants to grow and the roots can spread out w/o any root bound issues. The plants still need to be thinned, poss. every 3-4 years, but deffinately not as often as if they were in pots.
