So I got a CHUBBY pleco... No not a fat pleco but L056 Parancistrus aurantiacus From Wet Spot. Got two of these guys to grow out and see what they turn out like

Well packed little box

Always appreciated when they do individual bags for each fish! Plus double bagged and a heat pack that was still warm.

Well the little guys did a great job disappearing into the 65B growout! lol, its like I didnt even get any fish, only I know they are in there. I did see them, so I know they are alive. Looks as if they got their color in, just the regular dark black look about them.
Sorry, bad pic, very blurry

These guys are super hiders. Hopefully the extra caves I got will at least make it so I can see them.
Stopped at Aquarium Co-Op in Edmonds and got two pleco caves.

What is a skinny chubby pleco? Is it just a pleco?
“Chubby pleco” is just the common name for these guys. This is a L056 Parancistrus aurantiacus.

If you do a search here on MFK you will see some awesome color changes these guys are capable of and that they get quite large. Not just the cute little things I have at the moment.

L056 is a totally incorrect name for this fish as L056 is a different species if pleco. This is simply Parancistrus aurantiacus. That company should know this as well as all the rest. This information has been corrected some 20+ years ago.

Wet Spot, along with many other vendors are using the L056 number. Thats just how they are being sold right now. Does not help towards getting anything fixed... Likely never will get fixed unless money is involved, lol

lol, yeah I was overthinking your comment...

That's the thing, it was fixed over 20 years ago. I see it on my lists when I import, but anyone selling fish today can easily fix that. Along with all the other useless names like banana arowana, strawberry/blueberry, etc. Pure laziness is all it is. Only way to help get it fixed is to correct them every time.

Today was my normal water change and tank cleaning day. Got everything done but when I was working on my Sajica 65B I got curious to see the Chubby plecos and if I still had the two since I would only see one large tail moving around under a piece of mopani. When I pulled the wood out to gravel vac I was shocked by the pleco that I saw, it had grown considerably! But I only saw the one.... but then I see the second, it looks like it hasnt grown at all!

So now Im thinking about what I should do. The one is obviously thriving. Do I leave him in this tank or move him out to a bigger 90g tank? Or should I move the runt into the bigger 90g?
