Hey guys! My wife surprised me with a 14ish" long long fish for my birthday. It's awesome, but I'm scrambling a bit to get him the ideal setup. He's temporarily in a 29 gallon with a mixed sandy bottom, an abs pipe cave, and a minimal filter. I'm putting together the list to outfit a 120 gallon tank and sump setup for him and some cichlids together, but I'm hoping to pick your brains a bit first, especially about plants and tank mates in your experiences. They said he had a parasite which was removed and he appears to have recovered well but there's visible scarring on his face. We named him Jethro [for Jethro Tull because of Aqualung lol]
Back to the main point... Our lfs didn't really have much info about him and had him labeled as an African lungfish. I noticed he still has external gills and wasn't sure if that means he's a gilled lf, if they'll disappear as he grows, or if he's still in juvenile form?
Thanks for your knowledge, and I'll see you in the other threads!
