It started off as a little blister then it appeared to be going away but yesterday started to look like this.

I did post about this on another thread I had and someone mentioned it might have been a bite from a Florida gar who was aggressive.

So far since having it it's eaten 2 minnows. I've tried to feed it silversides krill blood worms etc other foods but it won't budge.

I'm doing twice a week water changes 50% each.

Just not sure if this is some sort of parasite or just an injury?

Not sure exactly… id net it out and dab some betadine solution on it tho. Will stop any infection and help heal it.

Betadine antiseptic solution? I saw it on Amazon. I'll try to see if a local store has one instead of waiting for shipping.

By the way how do you keep this fish still do I just wear some gloves and hold it down while I dab it? When I was taking the photo this thing was flipping around like crazy surprised how high it flopped.

Yeah like a white string almost but thicker than a string
Kinda looks like a tooth… i know these guys shed them fairly often. Might have ingested one of its own. If thats the case, gotta pull it through with tweezers and treat with the betadine as suggested before. And yes, just regular betadine u can find at the drug store. Just gotta hold the guy down and dab or squirt some on em. Might take a few treatments to keep it clean. He should heal up quick once thats removed tho.
