Hi MFKers
I won't type too loudly this Monday after Super Bowl Sunday
Yes, great sized wild Rio Parana collected kelberi were received in top condition. Normally wild kelberi arrive pretty thin from Brazil. Not so these beauties!
While the jumbo 9-10" individuals turned around very quickly, I do have some great md ones average size 5" or so @ 225 ea.
I also received a few piquiti 'azul' of same size/price from R. Parana as well.
Photos below of both sizes for reference.
Here's something really crazy and special. When I learned fisherman collected oscars for one of my shippers from way up north in Rio Branco (Roraima State) near Guyana border, I hoped they would be this fish!
In my aquariums, they are seriously no BS oscars. They are very active, assertive, and exactly the fish that I was hoping to receive. I have never seen them 'in person' until now.
These ultra rare oscars are 5-6" @ 225 ea.
The turquoise severums collected from Santarem are quite a sight.
These are 5-6" @ 75 ea.
I'll call these a really big dwarf cichlid - or how about 'jumbo zebra dwarf acara'?
They are 2-2.5"+ @ 125 pr.
I still think Geophagus sveni takes the cake for most remarkable earth eater.
Wild R. Parana collected adolescent/sub adults of 5-6" are 125 ea.
It appears I haven't saved any photos of 5-6" sized individuals, so here are previously taken pics of smaller sized imports from same river plus some adult photos for reference.
The epitome of cool earth eaters (imho) are the goby-like Retroculus.
Stock received ranges from 2" @ 75, 2.5-3" @ 100, and 3.5-4" @ 125 ea.
Pleco time!
This is the first I have ever seen - let alone imported - the orange cheek pinecone pleco L095 at less than jumbo sized.
These are 4-5" @ 150 ea.
And I'm out of photo posting space in this thread.
Next please
