I was speaking to a LFS the other day and we were talking about banned fish etc, he mentioned there was an Australian Native snakehead?!?!? From my understanding we can't get snake heads here??

Is this true and does anyone have pics?

As far as i know No but what he might have been getting at is the Australian lungfish it belongs to a very ancient group Sarcopterygii (fleshy finned fishes)

They are called lungfish from their ability to breath air via a ‘lung’.

Yes we have a native snakehead but its not related to Channa spp.
Snakehead Gudgeon Ophiocara porocephala A google search will show you plenty of images. We also have a large shovelnose catfish, a freshwater (lives in the sea too) sawfish and a threadfin salmon which are all fantastic looking fish but not often seen.

Peacock gudgeons are a beautiful little gudgeon although not a tankbuster.
