Started look through this thread and I see you are also having to do a repair to a big tank. I had to repair my 240 when I bought it broken. after you remove all the silicone, use acetone to remove any oils,ect off the glass where the new silicone bead is going to be layed for the best contact on the glass.

This is the thread i made of the step by step process I did of repairing my 240. take a look at it and hope I can give you a few pointers from it.

I just bought my first big tank (180gallon) but had passed on a 210 with a broken back panel for the same price. I'm eager to follow your progress to see if I should have gone with the big broken one.

Looks to me like you need to do some restoration to the house before doing anything else, LOL! Anyway, great tank, wish my wife would allow something like that in my flat.
