does your area always rain ? it provide good water top-ups too ,maybe some mods on the roof design, but you have to make overflow drainage pipe to prevent over flooding

not really mate.. but unusually this summer has been seeing a little rain.. my dad was also telling me about the same thing.. will work somethin on that.. cheers

If you want to test whether it is evaporation or a leak, then add salt. Test your level of salinity, then wait a couple days. You will have some evaporation, even with a leak, so you will need to refill the pond with freshwater before retesting salinity. If it is just evaporation then salinity will be the same as salt does not evaporate, so nowhere for it to go. If it is a leak then salinity will decrease as salt will leak with the water.

Thanks brian.. i've been looking at the water level from yday.. it hasn't gone down.. but i don't want to get too excited about it as well.. will give it a couple more days and see what happens.. if it is still goin down will try it with a salinity test.. cheers mate.. and btw.. how much salt for this volume of water???

cool mate.. but like what i mentioned earlier to brian's comment.. the water level has not gone down.. its been the same level from somethin like friday night.. will give it a couple more days..

Well if the water level always stops at that point then at least you found the level of the leak. It shouldn't be to hard to figure out

ya mate.. but i'm leavin the water in for a couple of days.. want any excess grout, chemicals etc to leech out.. gonna flush the water completely and the fill to brim again.. see if the water level drops and the repeat the flushing out part.. want to do this a minimum of 3 to 4 times to be sure i can introduce some testers.. the first release was a fail with 3 goldfish dying from all the leeching.. if the water level drops and stops at the same point then i'd have to work on somethin else.. cheers..

hey charles.. i've just left the tank to cure.. the water level did not go down post a point.. a little above where the top skimmer's 'U' bend goes into the wall.. i managed to get a .5 hp pump yday.. and been running it from the mornin and just emptied almost all the water.. gotta clean it again.. there is a lot of powdery stuff.. prob leeching from cement, concrete and tiling grout.. will refill again tomorrow or monday and let it cure for a week and see how it goes.. thanks for checking mate.. cheers..
