colton it doesn't just rattle it starts running :) i had to tie it down to the pillar so it wouldn't fall into the water.. i gotta get some of those real big heavy air stones.. the ones i have now jus get pushed up to the surface with all the pressure.. will check it out at the lfs mate.. cheers..
It's been some time since I picked up an Engineering textbook so this is the lay-man's version of what might be a reason for the incredibly loud air-pump.

Potential Cause: Output of the pump is X liters/hr... Capacity of the tube and/or Capacity of the air-stone to allow air through is less than X liter/hr.. hence, the pump is working a lot harder to push air through.

Potential Solution: Use a larger bore pipe for the air pump and attach to an outlet which can allow air to pass at equal or greater capacity as that of the air pump

Also, AWESOME build :)

Everything is looking so neat and tidy!
4" drop in a week. What is the temp and humidity there?

maybe to narrow down if its evaporation or what not do some test..
fill up a bowl or 5-10 tank full and mark it with something on full mark sit it there by ur pond/tank for a like a week and see if its got any less than the full mark.
to me 4" is still way too much for evaporation in a week then again i dunno what the foot print of ur tank filled up otherwise i can come up with the exact number of water u loosing..which i would not be suprised if its over 150G mark that week.
hope its just the extreme weather causing it to evaporate not leaking somewhere

dayak.. i'm guessing it is both these factors in play.. i don't think there is a leak.. if there was a leak there would be visible sweating or wet patches around the walls.. unless it is leaking from the bottom.. my guess is the structure is getting hydrated.. been doing a bit of reading and most of what i've read say a new structure will always take water and hydrate until it doesn't need anymore.. i'm not really worried about this 4" loss in a week.. i was worried when it was a 4" loss in a day the first time it was filled up.. thanks mate..

Thanks mate.. long time no see.. well on an average it is like 38 C to 40 C.. no idea about the humidity though..
4'' a week seem good to me, in Texas it go like 1'' a day! and does it really dry at your area? I think that there are some place really dry in this season over in India! Even with the high humidity like central Vietnam( always more than 75% in summer), the water still go down like 2-3'' a week!
