i was wondering is you can use pvc pipe inside your fish tank. i want to use to make places for my cats to hide. i didn't know if its safe for the fish and if there is a way to prepared it to make it ok to use. i boil rocks and stuff before adding to my tanks does this apply to pvc? thanks for the help.

It's perfectly fine. I've used it for awhile before and there was no issue.

pvc pipe is safe to use. all you need to do is give it a good cleaning to remove any residues or contaminants from the pipe. an idea to consider also is to use aquarium safe silicone and adhere some of your substrate (cleaned and dried of course) to the pvc then it will blend in better while still providing a hideout. you could also use prebent 90 degree bends (best to use electrical pvc as it has a more gradual bend) cut it down to your desired size and remove the burrs then bury it under your substrate with both ends coming out of the substrate and you have yourself a tunnel.

you said something about fish safe adhesive where would i find that at the LFS or hardware store?

Adhesive for what purposed? Like to connect PVC? Any PVC cement that has "pottable water" on it is safe for fish. Just allow it sufficient time to dry.

well i have a rock decoration in one of my tank nut i want to fill a hole to keep the fish from getting inside the decoration i was hoping there was a silicone or something i can use to glue the hole shut

You could easily use aquarium silicone for this purpose as long as you let it dry completely before putting it back in. If you can't get ahold of that I'm sure the aquarium safe 100% GE silicone with no mold preventatives would work.

The GE silicone that's 100% fish safe is clear GE I window/door. Do not use GE II. You can buy it at places like home depot or lowes. You will need the tool that dispenses the silicone, you can usually find them under $10 on the same aisle. Let it dry for a few days before you put it in water.
Also, make sure to check the expiration date on the silicone. You don't want anything expired.
