You aint gona beleive this....my buddy who caught this fish, I was teasing him because its in my tank...well he told me I hope it dies so he can mount it..so the sauger was in front of me and I decided to take a picture of him, well the flash was on and it takes bad photos, well when the flash came on the sauger took off, went crazy around the tank, hitting the tank, coming to the top of the tank and then he just rolled over upside down..done a few more spins and that was it... so my buddy got his wish, the sauger is in the sink now and Im going to take it to the taxidermy for him. I called him up and told me he got his wish, he said he was just kiddin.... :)

I cant beleive this.... :(

It wad drained as much as possible, there was some left over water. So you dont think I should add any meds?
With a 500 gallon is tough since the water volume is so large.. I don't really like to use meds either unless it dire. It's probably due to stress with all the moving and possibly they are a little week from not eating while being acclimated to the new conditions. I don't run a heater, my temp fluctuates all the time and I don't seem to have any problems. If I do, I normally stuff them to the brim with food and do big water changes (tough with a 500).. With cichla, I bump my tank up to 87 degrees and the iche can't survive (it dramatically speeds up their life cycle).. This is probably not a good idea for natives, you'll probably end up with casualties. You might want to pick up a UV sterilizer to help out if this is an on going problem.

You have to be kidding me!? This happened to me once with a large mouth that was only in my tank for a few days. The lights came on, the fish hit the glass started to spin and jolt and what was it for him.

I do have a UV on there. I fed them rosies tonight and bloodworms since I havent fed them that much. I added salt to the tank and the temps read 82 so its getting there. Im sure I'll have some longears pass but havent had any die in a a while now.

It was funny watchin the grass carp go after the rosies...its like he is looking at ya with them big ole eyes :)

He was the first, I got him in the 265 treating him as well. He acts fine, eats, etc, just covered in white film, maybe velvet, I will post a video tomorrow

Headed back to the creek tonight for some more longears, I lost two overnight and a few from last week. Hoping to get a rockbass again. Really REALLY want a 3+lb smallie. I got this one bass in the 265 that seems to be friendly and he eats very good, want to train him to eat fish. So far he smashed a nice size green sunfish and 2 small bluegills. :)
