2 male bettas together? Success!

More like I got lucky... I recently was given 7 female bettas, but one didn't look quite right... So I floated the red one in my 29 gallon community setup to see how my white plakat would respond

He swam up, made eye contact and... Swam past!

So I picked the cup out of the water and looked under for an eggspot and there was none. Put him next to several other males with no aggressive behavior, yet this nonaggressive red male is healthy and active! I even put the white male with the red one in the same cup... See the pic

Then I released them. It's been one full day and they seem to be pals, checking up on each other occasionally... Awesome!

I'd never say you're lucky until you have 30 days to prove it, even more. I have a giant gourami that does not harrass other fish and does not eat my plants yet at the back of my mind, it will take a few years for me to say that I am indeed lucky. Aggression toward other males is just in a male betta's nature so let's all cross our fingers, wait and see.
 
Ive kept two males together before just to see if I could. They were the only 2 fish in an extremely heavily planted 20 long, and seemed to completely ignore each other.

also lets remember its a 30G tank with a lot of females. I think you may have done it. I'll hold the congrats cause I don't want to jinx it. lol
 
I tried keeping 2 males and 7 females in 55 gallon with tons of hornwort to break up line of sight but the sub-dominant male was stressed out even though the dominant male never paid much attention to him. Then over time 2 of the females started nipping at my dominant males fin so I split everyone up.

Bettas are beautiful fish I just wished you could house more 1 male together.

Lmao I wish! She's a feral Everglades Oscar, so that's 100% impossible, lol. I'd give it literally 3 seconds.

As far as the other comments, ill definitely have to wait and see like your recommending. Everyone in that tank is being switched to a 50 gallon that I recently got, so hopefully the "friendship" (tolerance probably) continues

you can house males together in large aquariums with alot of plants. they make territories. the problem is people see them fight in bowls and think thats how they really are. put two cichlids in a small tank and watch the same thing happen
