And thanks again everyone for taking the time out to confirm or atleast 99% confirm what I had researched and concluded over the last 2.5 years of my experience of working with this fish.

and when people say that hybrid in the wild is unlikely, I would disagree. Recently there was a cat the color of flash juruense, pattern of tigrinnis and body shape of a filamentosum/caprepretum. View attachment 877109
Where did you find this picture does someone own it? It's stunning! Thanks for sharing

this I'd have to agree with. All the filamentosum that are filamentosum grow very fast. All the accounts of them growing slowly over a few years are most likely caprepretum.

Wes

Sorry bro, I have had both catfish and the fish you have is not filamentosum.
It is a caprapetum or a hybrid.
If you had a true filamentosum, it would be like 3 feet + right now.

yes, I agree you both can chill back a bit, here is the deal, I know exoticfish guy, he is a bit jumpy when he's off his meds, I'll go buy him a drink or get him another fish or something. As for Tyjo, I don't know you personally, I think one thing that even drew me into this thread is the fact that you were so sure that you had a filamentosum, when my first impression is that its not, over 90% of the imported ones are not, I'm an importer, I know. If I could import filamentosum regularly like I do with capepretum I'd be rich, they pay $3-500 each in Asia for them.

Also you failed to notice or acknowledge that the fish has a bent nose, common in these cats after a head on trauma, no biggie, its not bad. And I feel that you do deserve credit for the nice tank set up and 2.5 years of dedication to keeping and studying this fish.

For me, personally, I like to say, winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics.

Just to add to the twist, these are not even considered as the piraiba in Japan, its some other kind of paraiba, I'll post the real deal in a minute, and the cost is near the 1000 per fish.
