Last photo he is dark from stress of just running from one room to another and getting thrown into a brightly lit tank with large cichla that actually inhaled him tore his tail 40% off and beat the crap out of him. I was very stupid for doing that I know. I learned from my mistakes. But he is still here and healthy with no scars or issues from nearly getting swallowed.from the cichla if it wasn't for me chasing it around the tank with a net until he spit the piraiba out. I quickly removed him and put him back into a species only tank.for the following year

Fish Heaven
after looking over the thread over and over, some pictures your fish does look like filamentosum, some pictures it doesn't, the ones with the bigger spots. either way you have a nice fish and cool set up for it.

Thank you for the clearification and after reviewing your pictures as well as the last photo of the cap I can 100% say again that I have a TRUE Piraiba. Thank you for justifying my argument and making it clear to all the exact species I own. And thank you all for your compliments I will be happy to keep the pics coming until the day he/she gets donated to the Shedd Aquarium here in Chicago

I will admit, there is more to id'ing this species than I thought. You may have a true piraiba.

I think if necrocanis could send Dr. John Lundberg the pictures for id that would be awesome.
