I have a 3 incher too! It's name is Ganji and I think it's retarded but very pretty and it hasn't even taken on it's full colors yet! Where in Canada are you from? Maybe you could come see my fish someday? I have a big one...his name is Peter! What do you feed yours?

There is a difference in large spot colors. I believe gold spots mean polleni and blue are the old bleekeri which technically is now (polleni large spot) unfortunately vendors, wholesalers, and stores still dont properly label or classify these, to them if its had small spots it a polleni, if it has large spots its a bleekeri.

Paratilapia polleni is a medium sized cichlid fish from Madagascar. It was first described by the Dutch ichthyologist Pieter Bleeker in 1868. In 1882, a second species, P. bleekeri, was described, but it is now known to be a junior synonym of P. polleni. It use to be that one has big spots, the other has small spots. However, currently there is no bleekeri, it has been declared a synonym to polleni, which is the older name. What they are currently going by is population names, all of which are tentatively assigned to Paratilapia polleni for now. There will probably be revisions and new names, but I don't believe the name bleekeri will be resurrected.
