As the title says, anyone enjoy the experience of reading from either of these authors? I've read everything I can find from each (been addicted to their books since late elementary/early middle school)

also plan on starting a Song of Fire and Ice soon, as GoT is one of the best series I've ever watched the books must be just as good if not better

I don't like Tolkien and can't stand GOT. HP Lovecraft is a genuine weirdo and I love him for it.

Lovecraft's horror honestly beats Stephen king and all the other modern horrow authors rolled into one. He was a madman

Dunwich Horror is tops!

Tolkien is well-revered because his work is widely accepted as the FIRST high fantasy, but the reading is a tough go. I have never encountered any human being that has actually read the Simarillion through cover to cover.

I have heard from my husband that the television version of GoT is better than the books which can be tedious with their multiple meandering, unresolved storylines. :P The downside of course is that it does cut out a few things he would have preferred to have seen on screen.

Well you have now lol. I've done it like 3 times since middle school. Its tough that's why I love it though haha.

I'm looking forward to finding the things like that, that should have been on the GoT series.

I've been meaning to give some of Lovecraft's stuff a try for some time now...has any of his works been made into a movie?

haha there is a 1950's call of cthulu, a couple of B horror films loosely based on it. BUT, Hellboy plays into the lovecraftian (obviously modernized) world. The author of the comic was a lovecraft fan. There is nothing that's like LOTR status, the B movies weren't that bad I can't remember the names though.

my favorite thing about lovecraft is the tons of nightmarish imagery he throws at you in a short story, some are only like 5 pages long. My favorite is so hard to pin down too many good ones
