Monster Catfish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Love this thread, my RTCxTSN has been growing at an insane rate. He was 5 inches on May 7, yesterday he was just under 9.5 and it hasnt even been a full 4 weeks! I really want to get a RTC but I am worried that they are harder to take care of than my RTCxTSN, I hear they are sensitive to water, my nitrates usually pump up to 40ppm between each water change (Nitrite and Ammonia 0)

I have both. They are both extremely Hardy fish. They withstood 80ppm or nitrates for awhile . I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. They are tuff.. the redtail is 18" not sure about the tsn

Nice cats, I think im gonna take the plunge. My only concern is my hybrid is 9 inches (but has never been fed feeders), the RTCs at the LFS are 4 inches. I think he will be ok considering how fast they grow. Plus I have a couple 3" dither fish that my hybrid shows no interest in. Redtailcatfish, I see we both joined at the same time and are both from NJ haha.

You should know better, I am not abandoning you guys unless every catfish in the world dies. I don't think my heart could bear it. lol. I have some things I have to get done then I promise I can become a productive memeber again. Other news I made Staff Sergeant so that means more money for more fish hehehe!!!!!

anyone who is serious about keeping fish should have this going in there heart for the species they love. props necrocanis

Thanks. The qouted text is very old but still applies to this day. :) I really wish I had more time and money to put a larger emphasis on my catfish hobby.

Hello peoples. Im new to this site and this is my first post. I want to start off by telling you guys that I love monster catfish so much I caught a 4ft long flathead this summer an stuck him in the swimming pool an i bring bluegill home from bassfishing trips to feed him. LOL. He eats alot!
I got a serious question. I have a rtcXtsn in my 125 (temporary) and he has eatin one of the ole lady snails. I could see a knot in his belly an the snail was gone so he had to have ate it. Will he be able to digest that thing or is he gonna die from trying to pass the dang thing?

He should be fine just watch him and make sure it doesn't cause any problems how big is he?

Hes very friendly to the 3 birchers 2 flordia gars a channel cat and the syndonis cat i have in there. the 3 cats all lay together during the day. Ill try to post some pics of em.
