He is around 2" ATM, is there any tank mates worth trying out with him if I raise them from small? I would really like a ray and possibly an arro or something more mid to top rang. I know it's gonna be a risk as he gets bigger but is it worth trying out? A guy at my lfs said he knows someone who keeps 1 in a comm tank. I don't mind keeping him alone but i would like some different stuff in there if possible...

Mine 4 were ok with plenty of tank mates from 3" to 6". Some of them they ate but no territorial disputes. Neither among themselves. Lost them during a move from NY to FL. You know the story with my 1' and 1.5' ones too but that was in a large enclosure, a 4000 gal pond.

My 1 that died was ok with lots of other tank mates as well but he only got just over 6", not sure what size they are said to become aggressive? What growth did you get with yours? As I said my 1st one hardly grew but I think it was ill, I think I will get a tank mate for him and hope he plays nice

ATF isn't going to work, growth rates are to different, anyone think a jardini aro will work? Ime they grow a similar pace to the wyckii but I'm worried about aggression from both of them then, not a fan of silver aro's and I can properly house a 4' fish, I like channa but again I think that to much of a risk adding that much aggression? What about Nile or Chinese perch? Quite like that look, are they mid to top level swimmers? Or maybe a gar because they are tough? Any other ideas appreciated

Just got him to eat a belly full of cichlids gold, he is doing so much better than my 1st one already. Nobody got an idea for a tank mate? I would really like a motoro ray or a mid to top level dweller? If I have to keep him alone I will but if I'm gonna add a friend I want to do it ASAP, the final tank he will be in will be a L8'xW4'xD3'

He is getting nice and thick but has a very slow growth rate compared to a lot of other cats. He is starting to get the white strips along the top and bottom of his tail.

I have named him Kuro :)

By H.Wyckii, u mean Asian Red Tail Catfish ?

If yes, U would be looking at a 12" monster in about 1yr from now. That was how long mine took to grow feeding only on carnivore pellets. And yes, once they reach 12", their temperament is crazy and U would want to watch out for your tank mates
