What's tile?

If you'd like him be as black as he can be (and that's one gorgeous black), black sand would probably work or some other dark color. He may be hard to see against black sand but may be not, hard to say.

So he never ate what you offered but went after live!?

my little guy is on a "natural" gravel/sand its finer then usually gravel but abit more course then sand so it doesn't get kicked up ect so bad... he has a nice pale grey body and his top half is almost pitch black.. imo fish always looks best on "natural" colors. too light and they wash out.. to dark and they "darken"

sorry about your Oscar.. i'm waiting for tetras to start vanishing any day...

lucky ARTC's are suck punks.. I've seen Oscars and plecos get into it and you end up w/ a dead fish in the am. also had a pleco in my community tank when I was younger who wiped out the entire tank by the time I realized he was killing and eating them at night. I've also never seen a pleco back down.. if he hasn't been removed yet I would.

Tiles that are siliconed to the bottom and sometimes the back, it's just like bare bottomed but no reflection and it looks better. And yes! Never seen him eat a thing but my little Oscar didn't last 1 night in there

Ok thanks, I will try and find out what there natural substrate is like an find something close :) and yea the Pleco was removed as soon as I figured out what was going on lol no problems since and he is healing very nicely.

Food has started disappearing at night as well so now I've just gotta slowly get him used to eating when the lights are on :)

The fish this thread was made for died last week, I think head something wrong with him because he hardly ate and grew less than an inch the whole time I had him. Good news is I managed to find another 1 really quickly so I will use this thread for him from now on, here are some pics from the 1st day I got him.

11.5.13

1.First released into the tank.
2.Belly full of bloodworm.
3. His close up lol
