He's turned yellow??

My supposedly common pleco has been yellow for almost 2 months I did every other day WC for 2 weeks and no change water params are 0ammo 0nitrites and 20-40 nitrates it's in between... He's eating and acting normal so wth?

never seen that, or heard of that. But your nitrates are too high, they should never be above 10ppm.

I'm no pleco expert I'll say that now. But really? 10ppm? I have nearly a dozen tanks in two states with house sitters for WC's and drips on some tanks and I think maintaining 10ppm nitrate is doing a fantastic job. Amazing in fact. I doubt with my experience that 10ppm is the problem.

Lower is better, but fish can tolerate well above 10ppm. Saying they should never go over that is a tad extreme.
 
First that doesn't look like a common...it looks more like a L001. Many people mistake them for a common.

Have you always had a bare tank with lights on? Those combos can make plecos 'bleach out' their normal colors
 
The light is only on a few hours a day... And nitrates are usually the orangish color in my API test... When I tested it was darker orange not red so I was off with the 40... My memory of the chart was wrong sorry...lol

I meant maintaining 20-40 is doing a good job. I don't think nitrate is the cause
