What predatory fish in a small tank?

What do you guys think about rainbow wolf fish? I heard they were 'mini' monster fish. Another fish that I found interesting was a gulper catfish, yet I'm pretty certain these will eat the plants as well. If none of these would be possible to fit in a 30 gallon planted tank, do you guys have any suggestions on such 'low maintenance' plants such as Anubias and Java fern? Thanks.

green spotted puffer, will need salt to build up th brackish as he grows. or maybe a shoal or dwaff freshwater puffer... jelly catfish is another option.

what about a lone gulper? tank too small, dont they max out at 10 inch?

Need a bigger tank for both of those guys. But would be possible for grow outs to a lever tank. They won't eat ur plants but will move things around cause of size.

Isn't a jelly catfish too big as well? Saw a video of a 17inch one haha. What do the rest of you think about puffers in a planted tank? (probably freshwater)

Apurenis get huge but there are quite a few smaller species, have a look on planet catfish!-) batroglanis ranini has a max size of 8 inch usually 5 inch tho. Always got 4 lined pims or ornate pims. Gotta have a catfish in a predator tank...

What do you think of jaguar catfish?

Posting your tank dimensions will help choose good candidates.

Jaguar cats look cool but you will hardly ever see it, spotted or 4 lined pim will dart around to get food, jelly cats are reclusive aswell tbh but have big appetites... Another leaf fish
fish Nandus Nandus are very cool little fish eaters.

I like the nandus suggestion if the tank is planted as well. Cool little fish and a true predator. I see them pretty regularly on aquabid for cheap.
