There are so many different species of them but very few are common in the hobby. That said,my pick is the butti.

Paratilapia polleni (bleekeri) are not true Tilapines, they are from Madagascar and entirely separate from Tilapines of Africa and the mid east.
I would agree that of the Tilapines normally found in the hobby, buttikoferi and mariae are quite aggressive.
Although I had some Tilapia (now Coptodon) bythobates, that when spawning, would kill fish twice their size, and bring the carcass to their fry to feed on.
The bythobates males maxed out about 7".

That would be interesting to watch the coptodon take out another fish and bring it to the fry to feed on.I have never heard of such behavior in a fish.
I used to have an Oreochromis tanganyikae(no idea what it's name might be nowadays) and while it wasn't overly aggressive it definitely ran the tank...It would chase the other fish away from the floating pellets, even if it didn't eat them and it would even intervene when other fish would squabble.

Some may have been broken down and renamed but the tilapias are a large group in the cichlid family.

The Tilapines are one of the largest groups of old world cichlids, and include many genera, below are a few I have kept.
1st Alcolapia alcalicus, it comes from Lake Natron, a lake that is more saline than the ocean.

next, one of my favorites, from Lake Barumbi mbo a small predator called Stomatepia pindu

and below Coptodon zillii, thought to be the basal (primitive) ancestor to many of the specialized, small lake species, such as the ones above.
