Not to stir the pot, but IME GATF are the most wimpy of ATF. My advice? Keep doing what you're doing...good flow, good water, some dithers, and a varied diet, and see what happens. There are plenty of community tanks I can reference offhand where groups of ATF are kept in harmony.

I plan on getting more VATF down the road, I would hate to see this guy all alone. As for the GATF, maybe keeping one might be the plan also. I got three in total as a back up, mainly because they are super hard to come by here where I live, and it would be a bummer to pay for so much to import one here, only for it to die, as we all know accidents tend to happen in this hobby. If they grow out the 380, there's always a bigger tank, no worries.

I'm with you or at least when it comes to vatf and gatf. My 12" gatf was very mild were as my 8" vatf is ruling a 750g. I sold my gatf not bc of causing trouble but bc he was growing rapidly and I obviously couldn't care for a full grown one. They are both fun fish to keep. Keep us posted and hope things work out.

Okaaay, good luck with that. I hope it works out for you. It will be a good experiment anyway. Please post your experiences.

I'd love to see a group of large (15"++) atf living together in anything that isn't so big that it could be a decent sized pond. I recognize that there may be a few examples, but the vast majority of the time it starts to self destruct by the time they get 10" or so.

The 380 is barely large enough for one adult VATF to thrive. I think you're setting yourself up for failure my friend. It may work for a while, and indeed it probably will, but those of us that have been doing this for a while knows what happens when these fish get to a size that they start becoming sexually mature. I've studied these guys in great detail and the schooling behavior of these things stops even in the wild with sexual maturity.
