How can I get some fish out of a heavily planted large aquarium?

I have 3 bluegill sunfish in a planted 55 gallon aquarium. I have tried for hours to get them with a net but they are too quick! I want to give them to my friend but I can't get them out of the tank.

Drain some of the tank. I don't even bother trying to catch fish in a full aquarium anymore. Drop the water to fin level... Should be easy from there.

They aren't the only fish in the tank. Wouldn't that large of a water kill the bacteria? I'm not very educated on all of the bacterias in the aquaria

Either that, or you can get a large bottle and place some frozen bloodworms in or something, and once the fish you are after enter the bottle, pull the bottle with the fish and transfer to a container...

Drain the tank way down and use 2 nets.

Use can also use 'cut down to size' light diffuser to create a barrier to enclose them into an even smaller space.
