A lot of that happened to me too... but I still find myself stepping on the same rake every now and then.

BTW I so appreciate your honesty - because of it we can learn from you things that would be a humongous pain to learn on our own. Sadly, many shy away from stating the however-ugly truth. We all want to look better, much better than we are, myself first and foremost. I should learn that from you too, Ivan.

I had a Bagarius rutilus and a Brachyplatystoma juruense together for a couple of years with no issues. Jurs and tigs are similar enough in behavior that I wouldn't hesitate to put a tig with a rutilus.

What's your tank size? Both are amazing species to keep but get the one you can accommodate as per your setup. I am inclined towards goonch

I have a 180g atm having a 650g made this year so I will have the room.

Perhaps that is your plan anyway but tank first fish second is the conventional wisdom. But we all break it all the time.

When they were small, ~3-4", I housed a tig suchus and rutilus together with no problems at all.

I've had about 10 total. 1 of my current 2 I've had for a year and has grown from 4"-18". The other one I've had for 6 months and I bought it at 16" and is now 18" as well. My first 3 I lost for an unknown reason, 2 HLG and 1 rutilus, and my most recent lost last summer was a suchus that I grew from 3"-10" that I also have no clue why it died. My largest suchus died around 16" and after speaking to Wes, sounded like it had a stroke bc it's head started turning completely black. I also lost a 14" LLG last year but it was in extremely bad shape when it arrived at my house. It couldn't swim and was extremely skinny. I had to actually spot feed it just to get food in him cuz he couldn't swim to find it but after 2 months it eventually died. I also lost a smaller 6" rutilus bc it jumped overnight. Found it behind the tank the next morning. A 12" HLG got bit by a bichir and the bite got infected. After a few days it died from the infection. I think I got them all. I've owned more but sold them to some buddys and as far as Ik they're still alive and kickin it.

hey ivan, i'm adhie from indonesia, i have a bagarius and i'm not sure if it's yarelli, suchus, or toher sp of bagarius, and from what i've read..you have a great experience about keeping goonch..i actually want to discuss with you and asking lots of things about bagarius..as you know, in indonesia, it's really hard to find bagarius thou..wait for your reply..thanks ivan.
