She's also very lightly built....even as the largest fish, she's not the heaviest and she really just doesn't seem as aggressive as a Midas. She was very docile for the 1st few months and even now when she asserts dominance it doesn't last and she loses interest in the drama quickly - she doesn't nip at me either when i'm in the tank and seems to frighten fairly easily

where did you order her from? my big guy came from ekkwill farms as a "red devil".

but as mentioned, unless it came from one of the small smaller venders, like tuic, i would call her a midevil.

im not sure the vendor, it was ordered for e by a Ma-and-Pa LFS I buy/sell from/to
 
Lol, thanks...nope just grown in the 320 from a 1.5" pick up at the lfs. Here's his brother, making me certain they aren't true "red devils" as advertised.

Well he looks very red devil, but his brother looks very midas...Now in theory he could be pure but I'm not putting much faith in Elmer's aquarium

What kind of pike cichlids are those? Once I thin my herd a little I'd love to add a red pike or something similar. I hear they can be pretty nasty?

That's genetics Bro....spotty, random and chaotic ......I have 3 sibling APBT/American Bulldogs half-breeds and the father is a Pitbull who llooks like an Am. Bull and the mother is an Am. Bull who looks like an APBT - what do the offspring look more like; APBTs or Am.Bulls?
