If one day you end up with baby eels then you have a male and female pair. Lol
unfortunately no successful clutches have survived on captivity from either G. tile or polyuranadon, however, I guess there can always be a 1st for everything
Eels are always cool, even in colorful gravel:D
aiming right for my nuts on that one, huh? LOL I know it's a bit gaudy, I did a quick-job cuz I saw the eels at the store and I didn't want someone to buy them 1st, so I just used what I had available, but it will likely be replaced w/ live-sand when I begin the brackish conversion and larger tank upgrade

Be careful, a lot of the organisms in live sand require full marine conditions. So you might end up with a lot of 'dead' sand. From what I know you should treat a brackish setup exactly like a freshwater set up. Just adding some sort of ocean mix to the water.

I heard rumors they have live-sand for brackish and even FW set-ups, but no confirmation

If you get the SG high enough, I think over 1.015 or so, you should be able to start using a protein skimmer. Would help with water quality a bit, depending on how effective it is.

Very cool fish. How big are they at the moment?
pushing the 18" mark, they have been filling out nicely

It's funny cuz the 3 flower pots match the colors in the gravel, then if you look at the Eels themselves, they match the Tiger's-eye colored flowerpot almost perfectly - camoflague - they like that pot the most too

I have no plans for a protein skimmer tbh....the tank already has more than 2X filtration, and heavy BB.....I do a WC once a month, at most
