Nice pick up. Did the lfs actually know what it was? They only grow like 1/2in a year so I would say you have until it's about 10in. They are a lot more sensitive than other piranha so I would recommend upgrading when you can. Largest anyone has grow one to is 13in so you'll be good with a 120 to 125 depending on how active they are.

. Yeah someone must have recently brought it in. Look at the price on that. Not bad if you ask me!

Not bad for that size at all. Looks a bit smaller than 7-8in thought. Regardless it's a great price.

I tried to get a rough measurement in the bucket and it was well over 7" but not more than 8". It makes my other piranhas look so small. I do need to get it on a healthy diet asap.

So I picked up a manueli for s good price at the lfs. The fish was on the top shelf so I couldn't see it from the top down. When I got it home I acclimated it to the tank, shut the light off, and left alone until this afternoon when I couldn't resist taking a look at him. I noticed the what appeared to be hith? At the store I didn't notice it but could the stress of moving it again cause it to flame up or something? The store employee said that the guy that brought it in only fed it live feeders. Does this look like hith? What besides improving the diet and good water quality can I do to help this fish? Thanks. I probably should move this to a different section but I already had the thread going.

Hes missing entire chunks of his head which would be the worst case of hith I've ever seen. Search in the disease section as I had a rhom with hith and had a number of threads. Best treatment is metro+ and Epsom salt but it needs to be ingested consistently and at the right dosage. HEX by nls is also suppose to be very good. High quality water would also go a long way. Do you have soft water? The bacteria that causes hith thrives in hard water but not soft water.

Post pics in the disease sections as some of the folks there are experts on hith.
