Another Sump Questions Thread - With A Twist!

A few small problems with that... Firstly, I don't have a petco or petsmart... I'm in Tasmania, and Petbarn don't have "sales"...
Secondly, even tanks on sale here are normally expensive... Like, you have no idea!
And most importantly, I'm pushing it trying to get TWO bettas, let alone SIX!!!

well chit... time to make friends with someone who sell glass or acrylic
and tell your husband to start learning to make tanks lol. its actually not
hard just money and time so if you do know someone and can get real
good deals on em you should go for it if thats what want. you shouldn't
be pushing it at all though... it should be i want 6 bettas with him replying
"yes honey lets go buy them right now" lol xD

He knows how to make tanks, most of our hospital/qt tanks were "Jeffy made" :D

As for the six bettas, I highly doubt I'm getting anywhere near that! I could MAYBE get three... If I'm lucky and get tactical about it... But six ain't happening...

Still loving the 'C' shape though, my head picture looks so awesome! I might try it (someone made the mistake earlier of saying its possible :P) and if it fails it fails and I get extra canisters or plastic tub sumps if it works - sweet!!! :D

how are you going to make the C shaped baffle/divider? are you gonna
mold a acrylic sheet into shape to put in?

Nope. Just make a 3 sided glass box the size of the center bit and silicon it in place was the plan. I'm not wealthy enough to have acrylic molded for me! Hahaha

Meh! Its a "C" from where I'm looking at it... Just hold it on its side hahaha

My .02. :-) If you really are set on trying your "C" tank within a sump idea, try it. You won't go on continue wondering "what if I tried it".

IMO, if you have that size for a sump, I'd go with Travis' idea. Although not talked about a lot, people put their smaller FW or Marine bully's there all the time like that...LOL. Another benefit with going with that design, is you don't have to add additional HOB as the sump will take care of that for your main tank and sump tenant. Also, one less variable to deal with having a HOB running on top of what your sump is doing.

Either way on what you choose to try, make sure you test for WHEN the sump return pump is off - whether done intentionally or not. You'll want see how the water rises and if where your little guy ends up when that happens.

Also, I'm not understanding the need for smaller pipe/fittings and where that fits in all this, I read it twice and didn't see where that fit in.
