Bloat is when your poly eat too much and the waste is unable to pass. Bulge in stomach is just like what it sounds.

Is there any way to prevent bloat other than being sure to feed smaller pieces of food when you can (eg cut up small pieces of fish vs. large).

Green peas can help to prevent bloat, personally I feed my larger polypterus every 2 days.

Try to offer the peas without the shell , boil them for a while so the peas will be some what soft and most importantly sink.

I dont need too stuff it to anything? Just drop the peas and they will eat it?

Not all the Polys might not like it, but I would not worry about stuffing it at first. Wedging a pea in Tilapia would not be a bad idea.

Bettas go crazy for peas this way! Want to try that with my Ornate now. Are there any other veggies besides peas that they like?

Heard that pellets can cause bloat. Any opinions on that? I've fed my bichir pellets 2x a week and no problems so far.
