Last and the best idea is to have more polys in the tank. lolz
hahaha I laughed at this one. Definitely the best idea. :) I really want more polys, but want to make sure everybody's in tip top shape and I have a quarantine tank set up first.
P.S. why are craigslist people in my area, selling FRESHWATER 10 gal tanks for $30-$100. Those things should be like $20-30. One can get a completely new setup for $50.

In the meantime, making my poly wish list/Christmas list :D. It's like 75% fish stuff, a foam roller, and then health care. lol.

There are upper jaws that are called big three, teugelsi, ornate and weeksii. Those are the biggest upper jaw species.
Teug is the biggest from the three, its the nicest pattern and color, aggression not like the ornate, its more calm, price its the most expensive of all upper jaws maybe all polys.
Ornate is the second biggest of the three, it has a nice patern too, aggression is bad compared to the other two, price is the cheapest of all three.
Weeksii is the third biggest, can be second but ive only seen one the is really big, aggression i believe its shy compared to the three, price its fair on the size.
thanks for the specifics on the temperaments! Definitely want to do a Teugelsi and Weeksii(sausage). Thinking those, along with some endlis of various colors. Maybe a small palmas palmas. I really like your Dabola and Faranah. Might want to do a Lap of some kind or ansorgii like Hao Hao 's ansorgiixendli hybrid. It's nice to see all the different patterns and bright/dark colors. Then next thing you know, I'll have like 10 polys. haha.

Before i started keeping bichirs i told myself that i didnt want anything that grows to big cause i didnt want to buy a new tank,so i did my research and told my self ill stick with senegals. So after a week of research i bought 8 senegal, 4 common and 4 albino,
Then after two weeks or so i went back to the lfs where i bought the sen and saw some ornate. I let it passed and didnt buy anything, i did some research and saw they grow big and said to myself i didnt want any. The following week i went back at the lfs and bought 8 ornate, lolz.
Then after 1 month went back and saw they have endlicheries and it looks different in the picture ive seen, it was better looking in person so i bought 8 again.:D thats how i called my self polyaddict, Lolz.

I love the look of blue acaras, bosemani rainbows, red rainbows, melanotaenia rainbows, congo tetras, and koi angels. Do you know if those would work? I wish parrotfish or pufferfish would work...but I know that is not gonna happen lol. It would be awesome to do a mbu puffer in a bichir tank.
It WOULD be awesome with a puffer, but puffers like to test their beaks on slow movers

are there any puffers that are poly safe/compatible?
Puffers are for the most part best as a species specific tank. Two main issues would be:
1. in nature they are opportunist when it comes to food, so they may nip at fins or actually bite other fish.
2. the other issue maybe because of the enclosed environment they may be out competed for food. Other more aggressive feeders may not let them get food.

That being said, a local store by me had a mbu (22") in a community tank (400 gallon) with all the tankmates being small fish like tetras, Australian rainbow, roseline sharks and then some fancy plecos at the bottom. He made the comment that the puffer had never intentionally ate another fish but a pleco or two got in the way of its feeding and were killed accidentally.

So basically no puffer would be good with a poly.
