Turnover Calculations

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you. I'll have a look at those. I reside in South Africa so, in some ways, my options are a bit more limited. Pricing, especially, is a factorBut, I will definitely look into those.

Because pumps all pump differently, and head, bends, and other factors all come into play, you may just want to do a personal assessment.
Hold a measuring cup under the flow to your tank, and time how many seconds it take to reach what ever mark you are comfortable with (8oz, 16 oz, whatever.)
Lets say it takes 1 minute to fill that 16oz cup. so 16 oz into 64 oz per gal
So in this example it takes it @ 4 minutes per 1 gallon.
4 minutes into 60minutes per hour = 15 gallons per hour.

That, I like! Brilliant suggestion, thank you! Kudos on that one.

The traveler whom sticks to the road less traveled, bears no risk of seeing what other travelers have not seen before him.

And what does the traveler who uses poetry for design decisions risk?

Having their fishtank be misunderstood by those averse to poetry?

No, I'm teasing. I meant no harm. I merely like to experiment and try new things. I once raised a brood of African Clawed Frogs in a tank that was filled with full strength Rooibos tea. They turned out beautifully. I mean no harm to your knowledge, or expertise. I respect them, and value the input. But, I do prefer to plan differently, design differently, make mistakes and learn from them, rather than always assuming that the popular or easy way is the better way. Thank you for the input. Nice fish, by the way, love the Paratheraps!
