I've definitely learned my lesson about using magnetic alge scrapers with gravel. on Saturday I was using my mag float Alge scraper, I got close to the gravel and got a piece of gravel in the scraper and didnt notice until it was to late I put a huge scratch in the side of the tank. I'm definitely going to buy some kind of sponge thats on a handle so that will never happen again!!! thanks for reading, I think this will help a few people avoid bad scratches (btw I'm now going to take down the tank and sand out all scratches) thanks for reading and heres a pic of the scratch IMG_6514.jpg
LOOKS MUCH WORSE IN PERSON BECUASE OF THE LIGHT DIFFERENCE!

never used one, just no way to get to the back of a 6ft tank with it, always a scrubber . acrylic tank? if so could buff it out.

I only do the front and sides of mine using a magfloat. My back is painted and against a wall, so you cant really see the mess. But I do need to invest in a scrapper for the close to substrate spots. Ive left a few minor scratches of my own

You have to be even more careful when you use sand. Learned this the hard way myself
You aint lying there , no more mag cleaners for me .. they will even scratch glass with sand in them ...Long handle scrapers for me , my mag didnt seem like it was that thorough anyhow ..

I only use the mag float for the front and sides but I stay about an 1" from the bottom for fear of scratching my tank again. I used to use a hand scraper for the back but that was a pain so now I threw in 4 albino plecos to do my dirty work.
