Been throwing around ideas for my 55 iv had running for a while and I kinda want just 1 big social fish, flowerhorn kinda stand out to me but I really don't know much about them, iv seen some sites say 55 Is plenty and other say not enough, also how messy are they? My canister crashed on my 55 so I'd rather go with 2 sponge filters so would I need more filtration? Decor? Or plain tank? Would appreciate pics of you guys flowerhorns! Would also take other fish suggestions!

Not a big cichlid guy so what I see from intial research doesn't interest me much. I do have am eb acara I love so maybe like 4-5 in a 55? Firemouths also interest me but like I said I kinda want a decent size fish but the 12 inch wide tank limits me..

55 is the minimum for a flowerhorn. Though he can live and grow in 55 tank, but more is always advisable. I would suggest no decor. A plain tank is better. And i advice not to go for those special foods for flowerhorn. Hikari, nls or northfin are always best since they have quality ingredients. Please get atleast another internal filter.

Sunfish would be unique but hard for me to get ahold of, I love catfish so maybe a trio of suncats? I have 2 already around 2 inches each
