SO I PURCHASED A FW MORAY EEL AT MY LFS, WHICH I AM GREAT FRIENDS WITH SINCE BIRTH. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE EEL AS I SEEN IT. BOUGHT IT, KNOWING MY OTHER BUDDIES HAVE KEPT THEM IN FW, NOT BRACKISH WITH GREAT LUCK. BUT ITS BEEN ABOUT 4 DAYS AND STILL HASNT EATEN. I HAVE 3 OTHER BICHIRS, A ROPE FISH, AND OTHER TOP FISH BUT THOSE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN EAT THE SILVERSIDES I LEAVE FOR MY MORAY. I ALSO HAVE ROSIES IN THE TANK FOR THE EEL AND ALSO MY GAR. BUT HAS ANYONE HAD ISSUES WITH FW MORAY EEL FEEDING HABITS? I HAD A SNOWFLAKE EEL BEFORE BUT HE SADLY WAS ILL WHEN I PURCHASED AND I TRIED TO SAVE HIM.. RIP

I JUST NEED HELP TO GET HIM TO EAT..

1 HYDRO GAR
2 ANGELFISH"KOI ANGEL"
2 PINK KISSING GOURAMI'S
1 PEARL GOURAMI
1 BLUE GOURAMI
1 SPOTTED LEAF PUFFER
1 ROPEFISH
3 BICHIRS"BIKERS"
1 FW MORAY EEL

ALL IN MY 125GALLON.

Well, there is NO TRUE freshwater Moray Eels, they do wander into freshwater area but it doesn't meant they will happy in freshwater setup. For the best of your Moray you should setup a Brackish tank for it or return it to the LFS. Also, your tank is overstocked with weird combination fish species that won't ended up in a good way.

No offense, I meant in long term when all your fishes growth and cap their max size, most people often forgot about that minor detail or have a mind set that fishes only grow to the size of the holding tank :)

There are FW moray but it's a specific species and it needs to be collected from specific locations which is often unknown. There a ones that are born and live their entire lives in freshwater lagoons. The only reputed dealer that I trust though is Wes.

Never trust anything LFS told your about species environment, I wander around LFS in many places for many years and only 1 shop that actually listed them as Brackish water species and setup a brackist tank for them, all other shops are list it under freshwater and 100% they gonna said it was born and raise in FW. I hope your LFS live up their reputation since these eels is not cheap at least not cheap in my area.

Same here i hope they live up to their name. lfs also said for me to increase the temp to help with their eating habits. it might be to cool in my tank.

If you post a picture of it there are some guys on here that can help ID it for you. My LFS also had "freshwater" morays for sale but when I posted a picture on here it was confirmed that it was actually a brackish water species that sometimes goes into freshwater for a short time. There is only one type that is known on here to have the capability to live its entire life in freshwater and that is the G. Poly. A lot of LFS sell the G.Tile as a freshwater moray when it really isn't.
